SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 17

Designating February 13, 2002, as "Bob Pruett Appreciation Day".

Whereas, Bob Pruett, a Marshall University graduate, has successfully coached the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team for five seasons and has an outstanding career record of 58-9; and
Whereas, One of West Virginia's most well-known and admired ambassadors, Bob Pruett has earned great distinction and respect from collegiate football officials, coaches, players and fans from across the United States for his efforts both on and off the field; and
Whereas, The Thundering Herd football team, through Bob Pruett's guidance, has produced some of the greatest professional athletes in the history of Marshall University, as well as graduates who have amassed outstanding careers in every profession; and
Whereas, Under Bob Pruett's leadership, the Thundering Herd has won four conference titles, played in five major bowl games, achieved national rankings and won a national championship in 1996, bringing national sports acclaim to Marshall University and the State of West Virginia; and
Whereas, Bob Pruett has been nationally recognized for his accomplishments by being named National Coach of the Year in 1997, West Virginia Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1997, the Chevrolet National Coach of the Year in 1996 and the Frank Leahy Coach of the Year in 1996; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby designates February 13, 2002, as "Bob Pruett Appreciation Day" in recognition of Marshall University's head football coach; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Bob Pruett.
